Bearded Orange Rertuned Emereald to the Duchess

FruiteeJee - The world was rocked yesterday with concrete evidence of the Bearded Orange tribe thought to have been harvested into extinction in the early 1900s. A member of the tribe, name still unknown, appeared in the capital city at 2.03pm yesterday bearing the famed Emeral of the Dead that was stolen 434 years ago from the ancestors of the Duchess of Kwee. It is still unclear how Bearded Orange came into possession of the emeral or the reason for the notoriously shy tribe to suddenly come out into the open willingly. Indeed, many question the authencity of both the orange and the emerald. World reknown experts in fruitology, ancient tribal studies, gemologists are converging in FruiteeJee in hopes of being able to study the fascinating subjects.

Go Go Antibodies!

Eaaccckkk.

I have been sick. And :(

After Friday's fever and Saturday's headaches, came a really bad case of sore throat which then developed into a cough. To top it off, yesterday I got some infection in my right eye which felt like it'd pop out of it's socket at any time. And it started getting red and slimy.

Waking up this morning meant having to pry my right eye open after it was sealed shut when icky slime coming out of the eye dried and crusted over. Huhu... But alhamdulillah, feeling better today with both throat and eye feeling more or less intact.

My mom says the conditions here in PJ do not agree with me, seeing as this is the second time I've been sick within the span of 3-4 months as opposed to only falling sick every 1-2 years when I was in Sydney. It is probably the dust that gets to me most.

Tomorrow my goal is to be :)

Weddddddingggggggggggg

When you're standing directly next to a troupe of kompang players, does it feel like your hear will go out of its steady rhythm in a weird attempt to beat in time with the kompangs?

Yesterday, my cousin got married. So we went all the way to her house for the akad at which I met a whole bunch of relatives. And relatives of relatives. And relative of relatives of relatives. And we're all one big happy (related) family. Or at least it felt that way. Coming home in the afternoon soon proveed that my slight sorethroat in the morning has turned into a full blown fever :( So I spent the rest of the day feeling quite sorry for myself and cosying up with the cold compress. Dear Ice Packs, I loooooooooove you. In fact, I think the fevered-me loves you more than I could even love Panadol.

The reception was today. And my mom deemed me healthy enough to attend (ie nak taknak kena pegi jugak). So off I go, with my sore throat and cough. Luckily the fever broke the night before. Went early, got food. And met the other half of the relatives that we didn't meet the day before.

And then, omg, the photographers. How many photographers/videographers and what nots does one event need to have? Do you know what I do if I spot one of those big shiny camera thingys approaching?
a) Hide behind person or persons bigger or taller than me in hopes of being shielded
b) Walk to the opposite side of the room
c) Pretend not to see it and just turn around so that my back is towards the photographer and pray that he/she will just walk past
Dear friends, this does not work when you're seated and eating at the table. It also does not work when you're greeting relatives and somehow get stuck in between said relative, two tables and you sister with the photographer approaching from across the table.

So, I had my picture taken (several times). The photographer who accosted us when we were eating at the table, was actually the same guy who was photographing the day before. In fact, when we were leaving the day before he was helpfully giving us directions on the best way to get home. And while taking our picture he suddenly, stopped and went "Eh, makcik semalam!" (Clarification: He said this my mom okay, not to me. Jangan fikir bukan-bukan pulak). And he stopped to chat for awhile and it turned out that he is the long lost school friend of the bride's brother. Small world.

And then as we were leaving, the bridal party arrived. So we tiba-tiba jadi penyambut tetamu tepi pintu while the bride and groom entered the hall. Ahahaha... Seriouly, the number of times my family has been pulled in just to inflate the numbers.

Did you know that in a kompang troupe of about 10 or so players, there is one person who plays a drum?

Unemployment Woes

Dear Online Job Database,

Why is it that all your listing for jobs related to environmental engineering consist of only posts for HSE Officers? Looking at it makes me want to bang my head violent against any available hard surface. Fact is if I don't really hate HSE with a passion, because a HSE job is incapable of arousing any kind of passion in even the most passionate of people. *sigh*

I hate you online job database.
Thanks alot.

And so I am wasting awayyyy... Around 6 months to a year ago, my plans for this period of my life would be either a) traveling in Europe or b) resting at home after travelling Europe. That didn't pan out very well now did it? Now even though I'm living at home with both food and lodging being essentially free, I am running out of my allocated pre-employment money (fivehundredbucksonnewglasses!). Ahhhhhhhh... Not to mention my brain is rotting into nothingness.

My mom thinks I am too picky. She is right. I don't want to do this. Or that. I'm not suitable for this. That's too far away. And yaddayaddayadda. Really, if I sit down and think (I mean really really honest to heart and soul think about it), it's not the job opportunities that are lacking, it's the fact that I am limiting myself (and also that I am a freaking coward about going out of my comfort zone (and also because I am a lazy ass)).

Gehhhhhh...

I meant to write yesterday, but got distracted. I was at the bookshop yesterday, caved in an bought a book despite vowing not to. What could I do, the cover looked so interesting! I am weak to books with intertesting covers. Especially if there's a dragon *swoon* But alas, this particular book did not have a dragon on the cover, or any dragons in the book itself. It had demons instead. The book started of with a bang, I loved the the setting, the intial plot promising and the main character likeable. But then it just tapered off. The action was good and the pacing great. But story-telling and characterisation got weaker as you go along. Disappointing.

Anyway, I went out of the house yesterday (gasp!) for a purpose. I need a new pair of spectacles since mine is scratched, bent and lopsided. The trend now seems to be thick plastic frames in bold colours *sad*. Granted, some people look good in them, but not me. The guy at the shop commented, "Your face is quite small. It's hard when your face is small." Hahahahahaha... So, after choosing the frames, he tested my eyes and we started discussing what type of lenses I wanted. Once upon a time, when I first started wearing glasses there wasn't such an option. You had one type of lens and that's it. Now there seems to be a gazillion different choices. *pening*

Other random things bought yesterday: Chicken poo for my mom. (Which she has wanted for a long time and very happy to have some.)

Rambly Updates

Hello November!

Somehow you have creeped up on me. Where did July, August, September and October go? Did you eat them?

Today on the first of November, I forced myself to wake up before 8 (after a whole month of sleeping in and waking up at odd times) even though the night before I couldn't sleep and only drifted off at around 3. I took a 5 minute walk to the shop for the newspaper, which is unfortunately the only form of exercise I've had all day (and possibly all week).

I am fasting today. And I have also persuaded both my mom and sister to fast as well. I like it when (almost) everyone fasts because then the dishes that were washed will stay washed till the evening, the dining table is clean and uncluttered and I don't have to run like a maniac around the kitchen to make sure that all the drinking water bottles and continuously filled and chilled. My family drinks alot. I think we store around 12 litres of cold water, and these have to be continously refilled throughout the day.  Whew...

Not that those are really hard chores. They're easy peasy (which is why I am gaining weight). What I don't (and can't physically) do is the gardening. Now, gardening at my house is not like the gardening on TV where you see this really neat looking lady daintily poking about in the flower bed. Gardening hereis totally different. Some of the branches you need to saw through using a gergaji, while perched on top of a ladder. The other day my sister was casually commenting that we'd be better off investing in an axe!! I mean come on, do families that live in the suburbs need an axe for their garden?

On pet related news, it has come to my attention that the instructions on the packet of fish food says to feed 2-4 times a day. I am sorry to the fishies for under-feeding you, and will try to remember that once a day is not enough. But some of you are still more lebar than panjang anyway.

I've been suspected that my boyfriend cat has hearing problems and I think it is actually true. I used to think that it was just his wildness that caused him to basically ignore you when you call him but I think that he might be deaf. I was standind directly behind him while he was eating today, and clapped my hands loudly right above him. No reaction. He didn't even twitch. :(

And that ends the July-August-September-October update. I is go angkat kain now.

PS I didn't proofread this post, so sorry for any grammar, punctuation or spelling errors, as well as for any sentences that do not make any sense.
